Website Design
At first it seemed that this class will be quite boring for me because I have a previous knowledge about website design. I already knew how to program in html and even making flash objects. Thanks to God or rather Phil this was not right, because on the one hand I didn't learn many new things but the classes were funny and interesting. I mean it was on the second class where we had to design the ugliest webpage ever. Since we are all studying art management I thought that we all have enough fantasy to reach this goal – and I was right, we managed it, we made really disgusting sites, even worse than Hannah Montana!
But ok, lets jump to the serious tasks – we had to make our own websites. I was in trouble in what to choose as a topic for it, at first I wanted to make one about the musical Phantom of the Opera and but I found out that it would be too complicated to make all my ideas – including an intro page with a mask and a red rose which are of course moving objects and I wanted to program the whole thing to be a flash. But, because the flash program is not installed on school computers I decided not to go this direction. My second idea was my favourite Audrey Hepburn. I still don't know if it was a good or „new” thing from me since my blog is also in „Audrey-style”. But finally I made it – with pictures, infos about her which was all written by me, film list etc. and to fulfill my dreams – a little flash object as a header. I got good critics when presenting this to the group.
The final and “huge” project was for the whole group, to create a website for the BAAM. Well, it took 6-7 weeks to finish it. I was put into the programming group together with Szandra and Bernát. I have to admit that it was a pleasure to work with them, especially with Szandra because she was pretty enthusiastic about this thing. She did not know anything about website programming and happily participated in learning all the tricks. So I always showed her how to do this and that so that later on she was able to program things by herself. We could split up the tasks even within us! Being a programmer was not a good thing because for like 3 weeks we had nothing to do (besides Facebook and playing with Honfoglalo) and then the whole thing changed and we got into the focus. Everything was depending on our work if we are capable of making what the others dreamed about or not. It meant a good help that someone created a Facebook group so whenever a new picture or text was uploaded we could start working on that.
The style was Bauhaus which I liked. But it was not at all easy since we did not even have a font for it. So the designer people had a couple of things to handle. But I think the result is amazing – how 10 people were able to put together all this material, all the infos, the pictures, the interviews and so on. I worried a bit if it is possible to make it in time but I think we all did a good job. Honestly, I am proud of us.
To sum it up, although I did not learn too much it was really a pleasure to work in groups and I enjoyed all the classes, but you know Phil that I always aprreciate those people who have good sense of humour! :)
